About this car:

The Volkswagen New Beetle, introduced in the late 1990s, is a modern reinterpretation of the classic Beetle. It features a retro design with a rounded shape and distinctive headlights, influenced by the original model while incorporating modern styling cues. First launched at the 1998 North American International Auto Show, it was produced until 2010 based on the Volkswagen Golf platform, which enhanced handling and safety.

Initially, the New Beetle offered a variety of engine options, including a 2.0-liter inline-four and a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine, along with a diesel option in later models. The interior was quirky and colorful, with a flower vase on the dashboard, and included modern conveniences like air conditioning and power windows.

Marketed as a fun and youthful car, the New Beetle appealed to a broad demographic, including those nostalgic for the original Beetle. While production ended in 2010, it remains a beloved vehicle among fans. Volkswagen later introduced a new version, simply called the Beetle, in 2011, which further modernized the design but was ultimately discontinued in 2019. The New Beetle is celebrated for its charm, distinctive styling, and cultural significance, making it an icon of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
