Gas springs
We offer 3 types of gas springs: gas pressure springs, gas dampers and gas pulling springs.
All of these are gas-filled mechanical devices that use compressed nitrogen (and sometimes a bit of oil) to generate a force or damping effect. They all work on the same basic principle: a sealed cylinder with a piston rod and pressurized gas inside. But their behavior and purpose differ depending on their design and intended use.
1. Gas Pressure Springs (Gas Struts / Lift Supports). They generate an outward (pushing) force that extends the piston rod automatically.
2. Gas Dampers (Hydraulic Dampers / Gas Motion Dampers). They control the motion speed — not to lift or push, but to slow down movement.
3. Gas Pulling Springs (Tension Gas Springs). They do the opposite of gas pressure springs — they pull the rod inward.
| Type | Motion | Purpose | Common Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gas pressure spring | Pushes outward | Lifts or supports weight | Car boot lids, office chairs, machinery covers |
| Gas damper | Resists motion | Slows or controls movement | Soft-close lids, drawers, furniture, machinery |
| Gas pulling spring | Pulls inward | Provides retracting force | Compact flaps, seating systems, special mechanisms |
